Launched in 1976, the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble was not only the world’s first chorus effect pedal, but also the very first BOSS pedal. Three years later, this inventive new sound was squeezed into the blue CE-2 Chorus, and chorus pedals have remained in the compact lineup ever since. Four decades on, the spacious modulated tone of the signature BOSS effect is still loved by musicians everywhere. In 2016, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of BOSS innovation, the original analog chorus sounds are now reborn with the Waza Craft CE-2W. The CE-2W’s Standard mode faithfully recreates the classic CE-2 chorus sound, and adds an expansive new sound field with stereo output, which was unavailable in the mono CE-2. CE-1 mode fully reproduces the stereo chorus and vibrato sounds of the legendary CE-1, with the addition of variable chorus depth not available in the original pedal. A bit expensive if buy from stock (around 1000$ I guess). However, I only care about my sound quality, and I still don't know what pedal that I need. So I only put the essential pedals here.

Die Cioks DC7 Mehrfach-Stromversorgung für Effektpedale stellt im Vergleich zu anderen Geräten dieser Art jeder Menge Energie bereit. Und das in einem flachen Gehäuse, das sogar unter ein Pedaltrain Nano Board passt. Das stattliche Kraftwerk bietet laut Angaben des dänischen Herstellers bei 9 Volt massive 4620 mA Strom und wäre damit rein rechnerisch in der Lage, ca. 577 Tubescreamer-Pedale (!) in Betrieb zu halten.

If you use effects pedals, whether on stage or in the studio, running them from a high-quality power supply is essential to getting the best performance and lowest noise out of them. The best power supplies have regulated, electrically isolated outputs, and that gives the same electrical separation as when running the pedals from batteries — but without the obvious disadvantages! There are several excellent power supplies available that offer such features, but CIOKS have managed to come up with an incredibly compact solution, seemingly without compromising on quality or flexibility.

When we released our original Compressor back in 2011, it quickly became a favourite among guitar and bass players alike who were searching for something more than the typical oversimplified controls found on most compressor pedals. Although our original Compressor sounded great on bass (and still does!) we set out to do even better. 

On top of the full range of features and controls normally only seen in high end studio equipment, such as input and gain reduction metering, independent attack and release controls, a mix knob for parallel compression, and an external sidechain insert, we’ve now added a fully variable sidechain high pass filter, and a two position ‘tone + colour’ circuit which adds gentle tone sculpting and harmonic distortion, giving your bass some delicious character.

Kompression gleicht Lautstärkeunterschiede aus, indem laute Töne abgesenkt und leise angehoben werden. Über den Attack-Regler des CS-3 legst du fest, wie schnell die Schaltung diese Anpassung vornimmt. Durch das Drehen im Uhrzeigersinn bleiben Saitenanschläge stärker erhalten und sorgen für einen knackigeren, perkussiven Klang. Je mehr du den Regler gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehst, desto mehr werden die Signalspitzen abgesenkt. Der Sustain-Regler steuert die Stärke der Kompression und sorgt für einen straffen Sound und ein natürliches Sustain ohne Verzerrungen.
Das CS-3 basiert auf einer leistungsfähigen VCA-Schaltung, die eine stabile und gleichmäßige Kompression mit minimalem Grundrauschen ermöglicht. Mit seinem charakteristischen, ausgewogenen Ansprech- und Kompressionsverhalten sorgt das Pedal für einen transparenten Klang über alle Spielstile hinweg. Ob knackige Country-Licks, druckvolle Power-Chords oder singende Soli – das CS-3 überzeugt als unverzichtbares Werkzeug für einen besseren Sound.
Mit dem Tone-Regler wird das CS-3 noch vielseitiger. Hierüber kontrollierst du den EQ des komprimierten Signals. Stärkere Einstellungen betonen die hohen Frequenzen und für einen schärferen, schneidenden Sound – perfekt für glockenklare Arpeggi, funkige Rhythmen und Passagen, die besonders herausstechen sollen. Je mehr du den Regler zurückdrehst, desto softer werden die Höhen, was einen warmen, weicheren Sound erzeugt, der sich besonders für Genre wie Jazz und Neo Soul eignet. Ganz egal, ob du eine Extraportion Biss oder Samt benötigst – mit dem CS-3 kannst du deinen Sound flexibel an deine Musik anpassen.

Compression evens out volume differences by lowering loud sounds and raising quiet ones. The CS-3's Attack knob lets you set how quickly the circuit makes this adjustment. Turning it clockwise preserves string attacks more strongly and creates a crisper, more percussive sound. The more you turn the knob counterclockwise, the more the signal peaks are reduced. The sustain knob controls the strength of the compression and ensures a tight sound and natural sustain without distortion.
The CS-3 is based on a powerful VCA circuit that provides stable and consistent compression with minimal noise. With its characteristic balanced response and compression characteristics, the pedal delivers transparent sound across all playing styles. Whether crisp country licks, powerful power chords, or singing solos, the CS-3 is an indispensable tool for better sound.
The tone control makes the CS-3 even more versatile. It lets you control the EQ of the compressed signal. Stronger settings emphasize the high frequencies and create a sharper, more cutting sound—perfect for crystal-clear arpeggios, funky rhythms, and passages that need to stand out. The more you turn the control back, the softer the highs become, creating a warm, softer sound that is particularly suitable for genres such as jazz and neo soul. Whether you need an extra dose of bite or velvet, the CS-3 lets you flexibly adapt your sound to your music.

EarthQuaker verzichtet auf den bewährten JRC4558 OpAmp und die BJT Buffer und ersetzt sie in der Schaltung durch Low Noise JFET OpAmps für einen präziseren Sound mit deutlich geringerem Grundrauschen. Mit 10 Megaohm Eingangsimpedanz bietet das Pedal einen wunderbar klaren, detaillierten Sound. Der Arbeitsbereich des Tone-Reglers wurde ebenfalls angepasst um mit einem satteren Low End ein breiteres Spektrum an möglichen Sounds zu bieten. 

Zusätzlich bietet der Plumes drei wählbare Clipping-Modi um den Sound des Pedals an möglichst viele Stilrichtungen und unterschiedlichstes Equipment anpassen zu können. Mode 1 bietet symmetrisches Clipping, basierend auf einem Paar LEDs. Das Setting bietet den sattesten Crunch und den klassischen Sound eines übersteuerten Röhrenverstärkers. Mode 2 ist ein Clean Boost ohne Soft Clipping, perfekt um den Clean Sound im Mix nach vorne zu bringen oder den Preamp eines Verstärkers in die Sättigung zu fahren. Mode 3 nutzt asymmetrisches Clipping mit Silizium Dioden und klingt am ehesten nach einem originalen Screamer. Im direkten Vergleich liefert das Setting aber mehr Output und klarere Clean Sounds.

Darüber hinaus verfügt der Plumes auch über EarthQuaker Devices 'Soft Touch' Flexi-Switch-Funktion, mit der du im Handumdrehen zwischen Momentary Modus und traditionellem Latching wählen kannst.

EarthQuaker Devices relinquishes the trusted JRC4558 OpAmp and BJT Buffers and replaces them with low noise JFET OpAmps for a more robust and precise signal with a significantly lower noise floor. With 10 megohms of input impedance, the pedal provides a stronger signal with more clarity and chime. EarthQuaker Devices adjusted the cutoff of the tone control to deliver a more useful range of travel with more booming bass on the low end without sacrificing the cutting midrange and bright top end.

In addition, the Plumes offers three selectable clipping modes to ensure that it will work with a wide variety of gear and playing styles. Mode 1 is symmetrical clipping based on a pair of LEDs. This is the crunchiest setting the Plumes has to offer. When played through a clean amp, it will deliver that classic crunchy valve amp tone. Mode 2 is a clean boost without soft clipping and with straight OpAmp drive, perfect for pushing your clean tone out in front or driving the preamp of an already overdriven amp into breakup saturation. Mode 3 is an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement like an original screamer but with more output and clean clarity.
