Produced from 1983 to 1991, the BOSS HM-2 Heavy Metal is a true legend in the history of distortion pedals. Its signature “chainsaw tone” with all knobs maxed is the defining voice of Swedish death metal, and the slightly milder sides of its personality can be heard on tracks from mainstream to shoegaze. After years of requests from hardcore HM-2 fans, the iconic stomp is now reborn three decades later in a special Waza Craft edition. The HM-2W delivers the authentic analog sound of the original in all its glory, coupled with lots of modern refinements for enhanced performance.

This is a prototypical board of the swedish death metal sound. It consists foremost of the HM-2, which was not a popular pedal at the time, but if you crank up all four controls to max, you get a distinctive thick carpet of overdriven, heavy sound. 

The swedish "chainsaw" sound is an influential style of metal that emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s from the Swedish underground metal scene. 

This style of music has had a significant impact on the broader metal genre and has influenced countless bands around the world. Some notable bands associated with the original Swedish death metal chainsaw sound include Entombed, Dismember and At the Gates.

Our DB200 Mini DI Box converts any high-impedance 1/4" source to a low-impedance XLR signal ready to send via a long cable run to a mixer or PA system. A cab simulator switch enables sending the input signal through an emulated amp directly to a mixer without using a physical amp. There's a switch for either +20 dB of gain to boost weak signals or a -20 dB pad to prevent clipping from louder sources. A ground-lift switch defeats ground-loop hum.
