Description

The Boss FA-1 FET Amplifier is a portable, compact clean boost and preamp pedal originally released as part of the Boss Pocket Series. It features an active Baxandall two-band equalization section with bass and treble controls, alongside a volume knob that functions as an adjustable gain control within the op-amp feedback loop. The circuit incorporates a field-effect transistor input buffer coupled to dual operational amplifiers to provide transparent signal enhancement or pushed overdrive. Designed originally with an integrated belt clip for mobile use without a traditional footswitch, the unit relies on an always-on architecture housed in a distinctive green enclosure. Power is supplied exclusively via an internal 9-volt battery, as the original vintage design lacks an external power jack.
