Unser Testmodell, das FS22 Ekoverb-Pedal, ist mit einem Preis von 98 Euro im Portfolio der Marke schon eher in der Oberklasse angesiedelt. Der Zwitter aus Hall und Echo kann dafür auch mit drei unterschiedlichen Delay/Reverb-Algorithmen und insgesamt acht einstellbaren Parametern aufwarten. Darüber hinaus sind Tap-Tempo und eine Freeze-Funktion an Bord. Klingt schon mal nicht schlecht, aber ob es auch tatsächlich klingt, erfahrt ihr in diesem Test.

The Flamma Ekoverb features three combinations of delay and reverb effects that consist of a Reverse Delay/Swell Reverb setting, Analog Echo Delay/Mod Reverb, and a classic Analog Delay/Shimmer Reverb combination. Die Firma Roland gibt es bereits seit 1972. Sie stellt unter verschiedenen Markennamen eine Vielzahl an Instrumenten, Verstärkern, E-Drums, Synthesizer etc. her. Für Gitarristen und Bassisten ist dabei vor allem der Name Boss interessant. Unter dieser Marke kümmert sich Roland seit Jahrzehnten mit hochwertigen Effekten um unsere Bedürfnisse. Die Homepage der Company listet allein sieben spezielle Basseffekte auf. Wer gleich eine ganze Vielzahl an unterschiedlichen Effekten sucht, diese gerne auch nach Herzenslust miteinander kombiniert und dabei nicht lauter einzelne Bodentreter mitschleppen möchte, greift zu einem Multieffekt. Auch in diesem Bereich hat Boss gleich drei Geräte zur Auswahl. Der jüngste Spross ist das GT-1B, welches eine Lücke schließen soll, die so manchen Bassisten bislang vor einem Multieffekt hat zurückschrecken lassen – das Problem der einfachen Bedienung! Aufgrund der Funktionsvielfalt gleichen Multieffekte nämlich schnell mal einem Computer und man muss sich nicht selten durch Tastenkombinationen und diverse Untermenüs graben, um Zugriff auf den gewünschten Parameter zu erhalten. Aus diesem Grund brachte Boss schon vor einigen Jahren das ME-50B auf den Markt, was komplett über Drehregler zu bedienen ist. Das Konzept ging zwar auf, allerdings bleibt dennoch eine gewisse Vielfalt bzw. Bandbreite auf der Strecke. Das Boss GT-1B soll nun beide Welten vereinen: Digitale Funktions- bzw. Soundvielfalt und einfache, intuitive Bedienung.

Was ist daran so besonders?

Die meisten E-Gitarren sind mit passiven Tonabnehmern ausgestattet und haben eine entsprechend hohe Ausgangsimpedanz. Bei Verwendung eines Gitarrenkabels von 6m oder länger geht im Höhenbereich je länger je mehr vom Gitarren-Sound verloren. Ein Puffer kompensiert diese Signalbeeinträchtigung und somit den Sound-Verlust für lange Kabel – selbst, wenn die Stimmfunktion aus ist.

Der ULTRA-BUFFER verbessert die Klangqualität im Bypass-Betrieb und erhält bei Verwendung eines langen Kabels somit den Sound, ganz gleich, ob es direkt mit dem Tuner oder zunächst mit einem komplexen Effekt-Board verbunden ist.

Der Pitchblack XS erlaubt Wechsel zwischen dem True Bypass- und dem Ultra Buffer-Modus, um in jeder Lebenslage den optimalen Sound zu erzielen.

The Pitchblack XS not only features a true bypass for outputting the sound exactly as it was input, but now includes a built-in ULTRA BUFFER.

Why is this important?

The majority of electric guitars use passive pickups with a high impedance output. When you are using a cable there is a loss of tone, usually high frequencies, after about 6 m (around 18 feet) and this problem gets worse the longer your cable. A buffer boosts the signal over long cables to avoid loss of tone, keeping it clean and clear - even when your pedal is off.

The ULTRA BUFFER enhances the sound quality in bypass mode, so that you can still maintain audio quality even when using a long cable to connect to the tuner, or when inserting the tuner into a complex effects board.

On the Pitchblack XS, you can switch between true bypass and the ULTRA BUFFER, according to your tastes and environment.

SD-1 Super Overdrive

Der EarthQuaker Devices Plumes basiert auf dem legendären grünen Overdrive Pedal, das seit Jahrzehnten als Industriestandard gilt. Im Zusammenspiel mit einem guten Röhrenverstärker erzeugt der Plumes eine warme, transparente Sättigung. EarthQuaker verzichtet auf den bewährten JRC4558 OpAmp und die BJT Buffer und ersetzt sie in der Schaltung durch Low Noise JFET OpAmps für einen präziseren Sound mit deutlich geringerem Grundrauschen. Mit 10 Megaohm Eingangsimpedanz bietet das Pedal einen wunderbar klaren, detaillierten Sound. Der Arbeitsbereich des Tone-Reglers wurde ebenfalls angepasst um mit einem satteren Low End ein breiteres Spektrum an möglichen Sounds zu bieten. 

Zusätzlich bietet der Plumes drei wählbare Clipping-Modi um den Sound des Pedals an möglichst viele Stilrichtungen und unterschiedlichstes Equipment anpassen zu können. Mode 1 bietet symmetrisches Clipping, basierend auf einem Paar LEDs. Das Setting bietet den sattesten Crunch und den klassischen Sound eines übersteuerten Röhrenverstärkers. Mode 2 ist ein Clean Boost ohne Soft Clipping, perfekt um den Clean Sound im Mix nach vorne zu bringen oder den Preamp eines Verstärkers in die Sättigung zu fahren. Mode 3 nutzt asymmetrisches Clipping mit Silizium Dioden und klingt am ehesten nach einem originalen Screamer. Im direkten Vergleich liefert das Setting aber mehr Output und klarere Clean Sounds.

Darüber hinaus verfügt der Plumes auch über EarthQuaker Devices 'Soft Touch' Flexi-Switch-Funktion, mit der du im Handumdrehen zwischen Momentary Modus und traditionellem Latching wählen kannst.

The EarthQuaker Devices Plumes is based on the legendary green overdrive pedal, which has been the industry standard for decades. In combination with a good tube amp, the Plumes creates a warm, transparent saturation. EarthQuaker Devices relinquishes the trusted JRC4558 OpAmp and BJT Buffers and replaces them with low noise JFET OpAmps for a more robust and precise signal with a significantly lower noise floor. With 10 megohms of input impedance, the pedal provides a stronger signal with more clarity and chime. EarthQuaker Devices adjusted the cutoff of the tone control to deliver a more useful range of travel with more booming bass on the low end without sacrificing the cutting midrange and bright top end.

In addition, the Plumes offers three selectable clipping modes to ensure that it will work with a wide variety of gear and playing styles. Mode 1 is symmetrical clipping based on a pair of LEDs. This is the crunchiest setting the Plumes has to offer. When played through a clean amp, it will deliver that classic crunchy valve amp tone. Mode 2 is a clean boost without soft clipping and with straight OpAmp drive, perfect for pushing your clean tone out in front or driving the preamp of an already overdriven amp into breakup saturation. Mode 3 is an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement like an original screamer but with more output and clean clarity.

The Plumes features EarthQuaker Devices relay-based 'soft touch' Flexi-Switch Technology for both momentary and latching footswitch operation.
