Radio Trash

OVERDRIVE
Description
The Audio Surplus Effects Radio Trash is a lo-fi overdrive and distortion pedal designed to emulate the raspy, band-limited frequency response of vintage transistor radios and telephone intercoms. Its circuit employs aggressive high-pass and low-pass filtering alongside transistor clipping stages to strip away fundamental bass frequencies and extreme highs, emphasizing a narrow and gritty midrange profile. Front-panel controls include dedicated potentiometers for tuning the input drive saturation, adjusting the output level, and sweeping the center of the band-pass filter curve. The resulting textures range from mild, tinny phonograph textures to heavily distorted, blown-out broadcast fuzz. It functions effectively across guitar, bass, drum machines, and vocal microphones to create dynamic contrast between track sections or simulate megaphone characteristics. High-grade mechanical true-bypass switching ensures that the input signal remains completely transparent when the effect is disengaged.Media
