Ok, so you have eight effects pedals which you use regularly. You use various combinations of these pedals in various songs, but you are not good at tap dancing…or you are just clumsy and have (once or twice) stepped on the ultra tricked out-metalized-distortion pedal for the lead in your one ABBA cover. You have seen the digital effects controllers they use on the big stages, and have secretly yearned for one… even though you may never make the big stage. Enter Thomas Guldmann’s Octa-switch MK3. Your eight effects plug into the eight effects-loops on the back of this unit (all true-bypass, impedance free, gold relays so you can run any of your pedals, new and old without problem), and then by turning on or off the numbered switches in each of eight DIP Bank switches, you determine which effects you wish to use simultaneously in each Bank. There is a blue LED for every effects loop used and for each Bank (so once you are programmed, when you step on Bank 6 you will see the lights of all the effects you have assigned to Bank 6 and the Bank 6 LED). The Octa-switch MK3 has incorporated a couple new features as well! The ninth switch on the left side of the case is a BYPASS Switch….this allows you to completely bypass all eight pedals and enjoy only the unaffected sound of your amplifier. There are also two External Switching jacks which allow you to use two amplifiers and/or switch channels on those amps. Once you have all the Banks programmed, we recommend placing a piece of scotch or electrical tape over each DIP (….just to protect the switch from accidental switching, damage or floods….like beer). There is a buffered (or not….switchable) Mono input and a stereo Output, and the unit is powered by dual 9v batteries, or by a regulated power supply…like the PowerJack or the Pro Power (both by Carl Martin).

So what is this crazy pedal? Well, at first glance it looks like many other Carl Martin pedals…there is a High Gain channel which has loads of bottom end and nice crisp highs, a very dynamic Crunch channel which emphasises the mids with very little compression, and of course that famous 12db Boost channel that we are all so familiar with.

The EF-P2 features a three-spring reverb tank, adjustable Spring Drive, Bass / Treble EQ controls, and Reverb Volume control. With a footswitch for reverb bypass and also a direct signal mute footswitch, the EF-P2 can also be used as an outboard effect in recording studios. The Data Corrupter is a “wild, yet repeatable” three-voice Modulated Monophonic Harmonizing PLL (phase-locked loop)  that takes your input signal and “brutally amplifies it into a crushing square wave fuzz tone that is then multiplied, divided, and modulated” to create a harmonically complex, expressive, and touch-responsive analog synth tone up to three octaves below (or above) the original, plus additional harmonies. To unleash the cracked machine lurking within the Data Corrupter mainframe, set the Subharmonic Root switch to Oscillator and try not to look away as the sonic malware you just installed mangles your input signal into the sum and difference of both the Master Oscillator and Subharmonic with the Frequency Modulator applied to the upper and lower octaves.

The Grand Orbiter is a four stage analog phaser that offers classic and unconventional phaser and vibrato sounds, it can go from stationary and resonant to fast and swirly. The Grand Orbiter can be turned from phaser to vibrato via a dedicated switch and features a three way toggle switch to select between the ranges of modulation. One of these ranges, kills the LFO and allows the Grand Orbiter to work as a fixed resonant filter. The three ranges offer the following modes: Slow Sweep, Fixed Resonance and Fast Sweep. The Rate control allows to fine tune the speed of the LFO in each one of the modes. It can be activated in standard latching operation or in momentary operation, by just holding the footswitch down for as long as you'd use the effect. The Bit Commander is a monophonic analog guitar synthesizer with four octaves of vintage square wave synth tones. So it takes a normal single guitar note and turns it into a fat vintage synth sound in no time. The Bit Commander features independent controls for Sub-octave, Down 1, Up 1, Base (original pitch), Level (Master Volume) and Filter (tone control). So, the original signal is partially passed through the square wave generator and can be separately regulated vie the Level control. The Voltage Unit Meter Pedal (“VUMP”) is a guitar pedal-style level indication meter. This unit reads out signal level in the
traditional “Voltage Unit” (VU) scale, which is similar to a decibel (dB) scale, but pegged to a reference value of 0
VU=1.23VRMS. Since sound levels span many decades of pressure intensity, it is convenient to express the level in the
logarithmic dB scale. An increase of 6 dB sounds about twice as loud as the reference sound level.
The intended use for this device is to be the last “pedal” in a chain of pedals connected to an electronic instrument such
as an electric guitar or bass guitar, or microphone. It provides a convenient, local measure of your signal level just before
going to the amp or a sound board. You can also precisely equalize the volume settings of your pedals using this device.

Der 432k Rev2 ist eine hochklassige Distortion/Filter-Box mit einem hybriden Diode/Transistor Leiterfilter, einem parallelen sauberen Signalweg, gefolgt von einer Transistor-Drive-Stufe und einem Op-Amp-Fuzz. Eine CV-Steuerung für den Filter-Cutoff, ein Tief­schnitt-Toggle für Gitarre sowie eine Feedback-/Noise-Schleife für experimentelle Klänge sind integriert. In der Rev2 wurden zusätzlich ein „Sustain“-Regler und eine weitere Gain-Stufe mit Clipping für einen weicheren Fuzz-Sound eingebaut, sowie ein überarbeiteter Transistor-satz für eine eigenständige Klangfarbe.

The 432k Rev2 is a high-end distortion/filter box combining a hybrid diode/transistor ladder filter with a clean signal path, which then feeds into a transistor drive stage and op-amp style fuzz. It features CV control of the filter cutoff, a low-cut toggle for guitar use, and a noise/feedback loop for experimental tones. The Rev2 adds a “Sustain” knob and additional gain stage clipping for smoother fuzz, and uses a different set of transistors for a distinct voice.
