THE COYOTE - Der Fuzz, den Sie noch nie gespielt haben

Der Coyote ist ein außergewöhnliches Octave-Fuzz-Pedal, das auf einer lange vergessenen Schaltung basiert. Mit nur einem Regler vereint es drei Klangwelten: Swell, Fuzz und Octave. Die Inspiration stammt vom extrem seltenen Moonrock Fuzz des amerikanischen Tüftlers Glenn S. Wyllie, der seine Pedale einst in Handarbeit baute.

Das Besondere an dieser Schaltung ist der ungewöhnliche Einsatz eines Transformators. Anders als bei klassischen Octave-Fuzz-Pedalen erzeugt er hier nicht die Oktave, sondern formt als induktives Element das Verhalten der Fuzz-Stufe. Dadurch entsteht eine einzigartige Dynamik und Klangstruktur, die sich deutlich von bekannten Fuzz-Designs unterscheidet.

Der zentrale Swell / Fuzz / Octave-Regler bewegt sich stufenlos durch drei Bereiche:
Ganz links erzeugt er einen Swell-Effekt, bei dem Noten mit einem langsam anschwellenden, fast rückwärts wirkenden Charakter einsetzen. In der Mittelstellung liefert der Coyote einen kräftigen, mittigen Fuzz-Sound, der auch Akkorde druckvoll wiedergibt. Ganz rechts entsteht ein aggressiver Octave-Up-Fuzz, bei dem starke Obertöne den typischen, bissigen Oktavklang erzeugen.

Besonders bemerkenswert ist die hohe Dynamik des Pedals. Dreht man den Volume-Regler der Gitarre zurück, reagiert der Coyote äußerst sensibel auf Anschlag und Spielweise - eine Eigenschaft, die bei Octave-Fuzz-Pedalen sehr selten ist.

Für den klassischen Sound empfiehlt sich der Einsatz am Anfang der Effektkette, idealerweise in Kombination mit einem leicht übersteuerten Verstärker oder einem Overdrive dahinter.

Der Coyote ist eine Hommage an Glenn S. Wyllie - einen nahezu unbekannten Pionier der Boutique-Pedal-Szene, dessen kreative Schaltungen bis heute Musiker inspirieren.

THE COYOTE - The Fuzz You've Never Played Before

The Coyote is an extraordinary octave fuzz pedal based on a long-forgotten circuit. With just one control, it combines three sonic worlds: swell, fuzz, and octave. It draws its inspiration from the extremely rare Moonrock Fuzz by American tinkerer Glenn S. Wyllie, who once handcrafted his pedals.

What makes this circuit special is the unusual use of a transformer. Unlike classic octave fuzz pedals, here it doesn't generate the octave, but rather, as an inductive element, shapes the behavior of the fuzz stage. This creates a unique dynamic and tonal structure that is distinctly different from familiar fuzz designs.

The central Swell/Fuzz/Octave control moves continuously through three ranges:

At its far left position, it creates a swell effect, where notes enter with a slowly swelling, almost backward-sounding character. In its center position, the Coyote delivers a powerful, mid-focused fuzz sound that also reproduces chords with punch. All the way to the right, it produces an aggressive octave-up fuzz, where strong overtones create the typical, biting octave tone.

The pedal's high dynamic range is particularly noteworthy. When the guitar's volume control is turned down, the Coyote reacts extremely sensitively to picking attack and playing style - a characteristic very rare among octave fuzz pedals.

For a classic sound, it's recommended to use it at the beginning of the effects chain, ideally in combination with a slightly overdriven amplifier or an overdrive pedal.

The Coyote is a tribute to Glenn S. Wyllie - a virtually unknown pioneer of the boutique pedal scene, whose creative circuits continue to inspire musicians today.

Das ZVEX Lo-Fi Loop Junky ist ein einzigartiges, vollständig analoges Looper- und Effektpedal. The ZVEX Lo-Fi Loop Junky is a unique, all-analog looper and effects pedal. It is a phrase-sampling looper with a 20-second recording time, but unlike digital loopers, it intentionally degrades the signal with very low fidelity, a brick-wall low-pass filter (cutting off at 2.6 kHz), hiss, distortion, and a warped vibrato effect. This gives the recorded loops the character of a damaged cassette or an old, warped record. It also features a transparent, high-impedance preamp for the direct guitar signal and built-in vibrato with Speed and Depth controls.

The Milkman is a collaborative idea between Josh Scott of JHS Pedals and Tim Marcus of Milkman Sound. The concept is simple; a single pedal that offers up an echo/slap delay and a boost that can be used as an always-on enhancer or as an overdrive for small wattage amplifiers. The right side of the pedal is the boost side - a discreet amplifier based circuit with tons of power and character. The left side of the pedal is the echo/slap delay circuit. This circuit is designed to be a hybrid of tape echo and analog BBD delay.

In Betrieb genommen wird das TC NOVA durch Einstecken des Netzkabels. Schade, denn ein Netzschalter wäre hier sicher eine nicht zu kostspielige und bequemere Art gewesen. Schon beim ersten Durchsteppen der Presets zeigt sich ein angenehm harmonischer und gut durchsetzungsfähiger Grundsound. Das von TC Electronic benannte NDT-System (NOVA DRIVE TECHNOLOGY) für Distortion-Sounds kann überzeugen und liefert, egal ob im nur leicht crunchigen Betrieb oder bei hohen Verzerrungsgraden, jederzeit ein sauberes, matschfreies und dynamisches Klangbild. Auch die Modulationseffekte wie Chorus, Delay und Reverb können überzeugen und bieten mit ihren reichhaltigen Parametern eine sehr hohe klangliche Dichte, wenn gleich man sich beim tieferen Editieren schon durch ein mehrseitiges Menü hangeln muss. Doch das kann sich lohnen, wie etwa beim Intelligent Pitch-Shifter, der nach Eingabe der entsprechenden Tonart immerhin mit bis zu dreistimmigen Voicings (und das ohne eine spürbare Latenz beim spielen) aufwarten kann.
