Electro-Harmonix EHXXL

Tester

The Octave Multiplexer is a monophonic octave pedal, meaning it works best with single notes. It can struggle with cords or complex harmonies, often producing glitchy or warbling sounds when used with multiple notes.

The Worm

This analog effects pedal delivers classic cocked wah and vocal formant talking tones without the need for a traditional rocker-style footprint. It features two distinct filter modes alongside a built-in versatile fuzz circuit that can be placed either before or after the filter section. An adjustable bias control allows users to dial in standard fuzz tones or alter the voltage for a sputtered, dying battery texture. Low-frequency retention is preserved via a dedicated bottom boost control, while an expression pedal input enables real-time filter sweeps.

The EHX Blurst Modulated Filter grafts technology found in keyboard and modular synthesizers into a pedal designed for guitarists and bass players. The Blurst modulates an instrument’s sound like an envelope filter, but instead of the filter’s response being controlled by playing dynamics, it’s controlled by an internal oscillator. The Blurst is a must have for the adventurous player who wants to explore new sonic territory!

Deluxe Memory Boy

Memory Boy operates as a highly versatile analog delay pedal that builds upon the foundational heritage of the iconic Deluxe Memory Man design. It utilizes traditional bucket-brigade circuitry to deliver warm, organic echoes with a maximum delay time of 550 milliseconds. An integrated modulation engine provides selectable chorus and vibrato settings via a dedicated toggle matrix. Operators can adjust modulation textures further by switching between triangle or square waveforms to create either vintage warbles or immediate, step-like pitch shifts. An onboard expression pedal input expands real-time manipulation capabilities by allowing external control over delay time or modulation rates. True bypass switching completes the architectural layout, preserving native input signal integrity when the effect is disengaged.

Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai

Delivering lush analog modulation rooted in the vintage Echoflanger and 1980s Polychorus circuitry, the unit houses a four-mode time-based processing architecture. Modulated sounds range from sweeping bucket-brigade chorus and resonant flanging to slapback doubling and comb-filtered filter matrix textures. Frequency sweeps and oscillation depth are sculpted using dedicated Rate, Width, Feedback, and Tune/Delay potentiometers. Dynamic sweep character is refined via an onboard sweep filter toggle switch that smooths extreme peaks across slower modulation cycles. Stereo signal routing feeds two discrete outputs for wide spatial stereo imaging across dual amplifiers. Mechanical true bypass switching ensures uncolored instrument pass-through when modulation is deactivated.

Delivering optical phase modulation based on classic vintage architecture, the analog phaser produces expansive spatial sweeps across dual stereo outputs. Modulation is controlled across three distinct operation modes including dynamic envelope-following, standard low-frequency oscillation, and external expression control. Optical circuitry ensures organic phase shifting with smooth frequency transitions and minimal background distortion. Resonance and sweep intensity are dialed in using dedicated Feedback and Depth controls tailored for subtle warmth or extreme resonant peaks. Stereo routing separates phase signals across dual amplifiers to create a wide three-dimensional acoustic image. Mechanical true bypass switching preserves original instrument tone when the phase effect is disengaged.

Dual tube magic! Using the same professional-grade techniques as the most revered, vintage, high-end studio compressors, the Black Finger delivers truly professional performance compression. Unlike other “tube hyped” products on the market, which use 9 to 50 volts, the Black Finger’s toroidal transformer allows for a full 300 volts of swing, preserving the attack while providing the warmest compression imaginable. Fantastic sustain, and a must for any amplified acoustic guitar.

The Mainframe provides sample rate reduction ranging from 48kHz to 110Hz. A little background… the sample rate is the number of times per second that a sample or snapshot of an analog signal is taken. For example, CDs (remember them?) had a sample rate of 44.1kHz which means that the original analog signal is sampled 44,100 times per second.
