Gears is many things, an overdrive, sub octave generator, and resonant filter with expression pedal input. What it means for the player is a device that allows you to emulate many familiar synth sounds, as well as create brand new ones.

The overdrive is a fixed sound that can be mixed from silent to LOUD. This signal is fed into a clock divider, which puts out a Square wave (or two) we can mix into the output. This audio travels on to the aggressive filter section. There’s also a drive control allowing you to play nice with the filter, or just slam audio up against it. The filter also sneaks into self oscillation, for a little bit of extra noise, if you so desire.

The expression pedal input allows foot control over the „Freq“ knob, and is the most magic trick in this new box. Electronic „wubs“ familiar „wahs“ and plenty of other new sounds are effortlessly dialed in and modulated with your foot.

A combination Attack/Release envelope generator and resonant filter. The envelope is triggered by tapping the left footswitch, rather than depending on some "pick dynamic" detecting circuit which ALMOST NEVER WORKS. (and you can't put it in the middle of a note's decay, or modulate a drone with it)

Depressing the switch engages the attack stage of the envelope. Holding your foot as long as you like is the decay stage (That's like a bonus, it's not even in the name!) sustaining the envelope at whatever DEPTH you have dialed in on the knob of the same name. Releasing the switch will engage the Release stage of the envelope, and your filter will ramp back down to it's knob-set-position.

The filter section has a familiar array of controls. Cutoff, resonance, and drive. You can use the drive knob to boost a quiet signal, tame a loud one, and often add grit to your input.

The filter can also be coaxed into a very rude self oscillation. Of course.

Seit gut 10 Jahren hat Dwarfcraft das Eau Claire Thunder Effektpedal in der Mache. Es ist grundlegend ein Big Muff Distortion bzw. Fuzz. Die Gold Standard Version hat aber ein paar Eigenheiten, die unter Fans sicher für offene Münder sorgen könnten.

The Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder is the result of my wish to rectify a few issues I’ve had with other muff-style fuzz boxes, notably a mid scoop.
“But Old Pal Aen, some times I need to scoop teh midz for my metal tonez!”
While I can’t say that I ever find that useful, ECT will do that as well. When stomping on the “BYPASS” switch, you will be in familiar fuzzbox territory. Volume, Tone, and Distortion are all active, as well as the “TIMEWARP” toggle, which flips between the traditional hi-fi type sound and a more blunted, ummm, stoner-rocky type sound.
“TONEBLAST” bypasses the tone control, giving you more mids and a bunch more volume. At any time, you can tap the “feedback” stomper to trigger a momentary integrated feedback loop, because I like noise.

Eau Claire Thunder

Dwarfcraft's Ghost Fax is a phase computer—a advanced phaser with tons of options for modulation and customization of tone. Capable of completely new phaser sounds, this pedal takes modulation to the next level and allows novel tones and techniques with an intuitive interface.

Basic LFO-based phasing techniques are easily within reach, but the Ghost Fax also offers several other means of phase animation, including envelope follower functions, manual phase control, and the ability to use a footswitch to "pause" the phaser in its tracks. A unique "Poles" function allows the user to determine the number of allpass filters that comprise the phase effect, for everything from subtle phasing to deep swooshes. Dedicated feedback control also allows further sonic options, from pure electronic sound generation to traditional effects.

Ghost Fax

What seems like a long time ago, I tried to make a normal fuzz. That didn’t last long. While the She Fuzz does do a couple familiar sounds, a nice beefy powerchordy type of fighitn’ fuzz, and a snotty octave up, I found it much more exciting to get odd sounds out of it. Shiva squeels and motorboats and has some suboctave powers too! A lot of these sounds can be switched on via the starve switch on the right.

She Fuzz has become quite a hit with the kids, and who am I to argue? I guess I’ll keep making them. Oh, PS, the She Fuzz used to be called Shiva.
