Edward Van Halen's Gitarrensound auf dem Debüt Album von1978 katapultierte ihn schlagartig in dem Olymp des Rock und selbst nach mehr als 25 Jahren hat die Gitarrenarbeit auf diesem Album nichts von ihrer Faszination eingebüßt. Den unglaublichen Sound, den EVH auf dieser Platte kreierte, gehört zu den absoluten Meilensteinen des Rock und ein wichtiger Bestandteil dieses Sounds war von vornherein der MXR Phase 90. Der Phase 90 trug maßgeblich zu den zeitlosen Gitarrensounds von “Eruption,“ “Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love,“ “On Fire,“ und “Atomic Punk“, sowie vieler anderer klassischer Van Halen Stücke bei. Entstanden aus einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen Eddie Van Halen und Jim Dunlop ist der EVH 90 eine komplett neu designte Version des legendären Phase 90. Der EVH 90 zeigt genau die gleichen räumlichen Klangverwirbelungen und hypnotischen Phasenverschiebungen, die den Phase 90 so berühmt machten. Als neues Feature besitzt der EVH 90 den Script-Schalter, der es ermöglicht, zwischen dem Vintage 'Script Logo' und dem moderneren, aggressiveren 'Block Logo' Phasersound zu wählen. With the new GT-100 Version 2.0 update, BOSS’ high-end multi-effects processor is now even more powerful than before, adding a host of great new features to its already formidable arsenal. Two new amp types are included, along with cutting-edge MDP effects, an acoustic guitar simulator, and an improved rotary effect. A convenient Guitar-to-MIDI function is on board as well, letting you connect to a computer to play soft synths and input MIDI note using your normal guitar. The GT-100’s USB audio capabilities have been expanded too, providing greater flexibility for re-amping applications. And with the BOSS TONE STUDIO software, you can now edit GT-100 patches from a friendly graphical interface on your computer.
